Conservative MP David Davies thinks “most parents would prefer their children not to be gay, knowing most parents want grandchildren”. If parents imagine their children falling in love when they’re adults, they probably imagine the partners of their children to be of the opposite gender. Most parents who imagine their grandchildren probably imagine their grandchildren being created naturally and born to heterosexuals. In imagining their children having heterosexual relationships and their grandchildren being created naturally, they prove that they would rather their children were heterosexuals.

That doesn’t mean most parents are homophobic. Many parents who would rather their children were heterosexuals would still love and accept them if they were homosexuals. The homosexuality of their children wouldn’t have a negative impact on how they feel about their children, or on their relationship with their children.
